Dirt Platoon- Deeper Than Dirt LP

Dirt Platoon brings the raw, gritty sound of Baltimore's inner city streets to life on "Deeper Than Dirt". The album begins with an ode to the street the two brothers grew up on, "Pennsylvania Ave.", which draws a stamp of approval from street legend and "American Gangster" Melvin Williams, who makes a cameo in the video. The album continues with aggressive, in-your-face lyrics, as Dirt Platoon stake their claim in hip-hop and prove that "these other rappers is garbage, the match-ups be uneven". These multi-dimensional emcees also show that they aren't all brute on tracks like "Raven" and "Long Time No C" as they discuss interactions and relationships with the opposite sex. Whether it's a braggadocious rap, an introspective look into the gutter, or a song for the ladies, Dirt Platoon's superb lyrical ability and robust metaphors prove to be a testament to songwriting.

"Deeper Than Dirt" carries a cohesive, addictive sound that rings true with hip-hop purists and true schoolers. Tom Delay puts his masterful touch on a number of beats including "1st Hand" and "Almighty", bringing a lively, unique feel to the album. Philly producer Fel Sweentenberg also makes his mark on the project, providing bass heavy bangers for songs like "Rapid Fire" and "E.L.A.I.N.E.".

The entire record paints a picture how hip-hop was, and how it should be, as the producers take sample chops to another level and the emcees use modern techniques of emceeing to talk about their lives and to just plain spit. With features only from L.E.G.A.C.Y. of the Justice League, Brake Fast emcee Mic Brown and vocalist Kate Nudo, Dirt Platoon show their lyrical prowess in 12 tracks of the type of music that many hip-hop artists aspire to make. "Deeper Than Dirt" is that unfiltered, uncut, hip-hip from the heart.

Its all love though and shout out to the MC that took the whole thing. I will be sharing some footage of the past event and how I advanced myself to the final stage of the tournament. Domestic Radio

We subconsciously live our lives according to that FM broadcast
now days...
Those most frequently delivered sound waves
that only in a perfect world cannot be downplayed...
puts us in a profound state with uncontrollable depths

These lyrical references, we try to exhibit in our relationships
but instead we do the opposite or play a part of the song's literal
meaning

While he stares at her ass, his train of thought is
damn, my chick bad
But her frame of mind is that he loves her beyond the physical...
so her train of thought is he's everything to me
because he feeds her mentally with fabricated truths and feelings
impairing her perception to whom she feels a connection

He tells her that "these other women have nothing on you"
However, he insist to his boys "I just want her to be my little freak"
so as he creeps with the next woman, he avoids
the relationship from being over
as he talks with the game of a professional commentator
just for entry into her sacred temple

He tells her, "welcome to my sex room"
to her its unthinkable, but she's just as foolish
as she discovers that he can't even hold an intellectual conversation
so when she tries...she waits for his response...*sighs* and replies
"say something baby"

but no words project with substance...

As he gets too comfortable with her presence
he verbally and physically attacks her
and I bet the neighbors know your name the way you're
punching, beating, as she's constantly yelling and screaming...
for you to stop the abuse

Everything has changed...

His sex therapy is no longer sensual
and when he bust it wide open its more like blatant
unforgivable rape
and we've all became victims, but she's been so scarred
that now she believes that she is inferior to all men

so when they ask her how low can you go?
She proceeds to drop her panties...quick to give it up
observing fellas in a beamer, benz or bentley
and quick to tell them, "come here rude boy, can you get it up?

Lost in her individuality, she has succumb to her weakness
life extracted by a man who has claimed dominion over her
pride and dignity
it kills me to see how it is so easy for us to destroy
yet so complicated to build one another up

But we just continue to live our lives according to that FM broadcast
now days
these most frequently delivered sound waves
that only in a perfect cannot be downplayed

Domestic Radio

Note to self

People are seasonal, friends are transparent, family is deceiving..at the end of it all you remain a loner...The most important people fade out of your life at some point or another to instill balance in your cipher. Life is a cycle. It never was about them. Its about growth, maturity & gaining true knowledge through understanding. These experiences make you a gem. We are just people with a purpose in each life we encounter. Evolve. Peace

Dirt Platoon- Strapped

Real MCs are alive in Baltimore in case you speculators were lost in the mix. I dont know Dirt Platoon personally, but these cats are literally always in attendance at any major hip hop event in Baltimore. These MCs are really on their grind, and I respect them heavily for that, not to mention the lyrical talent these cats possess. Their style reminds me of a cross between the back in the day Mobb Deep and M.O.P. I'm talking about some real grimy street hip hop shit while incorporating social and political awareness as well. They also have a track featured on Tom Delay's "Cases" album which dropped recently in 09. I been keeping up with Dirt Platoon for a little bit now, and they def have the passion and drive for hip hop. When I peeped the video "Strapped" I was definitely impressed, so I just had to post this shit and promote these fellow Baltimore MCs. Peep this joint.

Not too sure if they're on twitter, if they are I'll be editing this post and dropping that info on you.
Peace

Lavar Conscious & Mark Milly presents: Rhyme and Reason

It is finally here, the highly anticipated collaborative project with myself and fellow recording artist, Mark Milly. RHYME AND REASON. Unfortunately, this will be the last project I will be releasing under the YHGM brand to pursue other interests and direction, but I must say it was a pleasure to be apart of an empire with such a driven leader as Mark Milly.
In this project you will hear how our styles differentiate, yet come together so naturally as two MCs spit ill bars to shed light on lyrical talent here in Baltimore.

Peace and love to the YHGM fam. I wish you all nothing but success and prosperity. See you at the top fellas!
Peace

Don't sleep. Listen, download, and add this collection of dope music to your playlists.
Enjoy!

Peace to the Gods and Earths, Peace to everyone supporting real hip hop, with that being said, Yes this is another MC making a bold appearance on the infamous Exhibit C instrumental lol. As much as I am against remaking classic joints, that seem untouchable, I just had to attack it, ONLY because I was called out to do the track and my pride, my pride lol. Yes many peeps told me don't even touch that joint, but when you have something to prove then nothing is untouchable. Check this DJ M.Nila exclusive out, Listen and Download...Thanks its much appreciated!

In Contrast

Black cotton, white slaves
Black supremacists, white activists
An invalid perception, that could never equivalent or reciprocate
reality
White cotton, black slaves
White supremacists, black activists
What’s the science?

In the beginning, there was the original black man
Our indigenous origin
Knowledge is understanding…
Kings and Queens

So I use my black thoughts as my roots have been stimulated
Amongst a society that has been simulated
While the truth has disintegrated
As the teachers generated in the minds of the blind…
Giving a misconception of…

Black, the organic race
Yet they misinterpret our color as Satanic plagued, Gothic
While white is pure and white is prosperous
Black is poverty and black is ominous

So they blackmail and blackball us and
Give us white lies which originated from the white man’s
diaphragm…
There never was a middle section in this venn diagram

Our association is with darkness which injects fear…
Evil…
Black, so commonly used as the color of mourning
And bereavement
The color of concealment and non-achievement
But ironically Native Americans associated black
with the life giving soil

As Europeans enslaved our black heritage
Still we rise…
So they despise our pride…segregation…
Say it LOUD!…

Black is the color that does not emit or reflect light
In any part of the visible spectrum
Instead it absorbs all frequencies
Black and white, no shades of grey in between
Maybe you’ll love us when we fade to black…

But even metaphorically, that’s morally incorrect
Because from birth to adolescence our complexion
is darkened
And as black as we are, they want to see failure

Bi racial, Kings and Queens
Understand your black genes are the predominance
They say the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice
The darker the flesh, the deeper the roots
I say black is beautiful, from light to dark
variations

I am a black dove hovering above the majestic sky
Not to be confused with a black hole, but rather
A black star…
Shining above and beyond any galactic passage

I am black youth writing with my black ball point pen
Composing black scriptures to the illest black milk
production
Hit me on my blackberry if you want to contact Black
Collar Society
Even Rolling Stones had no choice but to paint it
Black

Black cotton, white slaves
Black supremacists, white activists
White cotton, black slaves
White supremacists, black activists

New Mixtape: The Underachiever coming soon!

Peace to everyone. I feel it appropriate to inform you on the new mixtape in which I will be dropping within the next couple of weeks, "The Underachiever". This mixtape will serve as the prelude to my highly anticpated Black Collar Society project. The Underachiever will include tracks from my previous '08 release: Above The Influence and unreleased tracks as well. I derived the mixtape name, from my status as of current with this entire hip hop DMV scene. I do believe I am one of the elite MC's of this region, yet the outlets, the hours of networking are still not enough to catch the ears of the listeners. There is a sense of underachievement, as well as our region as a whole underachieving in the music industry. With so much talent we possess its difficult, to stay humble and continue to grind with lack of recognition and respect. Thus, I felt the title was suitable for this state of current affairs. Stay tuned and be on the look out for "The Underachiever" and The Black Collar Society project.

Listen and Download "The Voice" which will be a track on the mixtape
